GENERAL INFORMATION
- LOCATION: 84 km south-west of Cairns
- Malanda is claimed to have the longest milkrun in Australia since its dairy industry supplies milk all the
- way to Mt Isa, Darwin and even the north of Western Australia. An equivalent in the USA could be be
- a dairy in California supplying milk all the way up to a town in New York state! Just north of the town
- are the Malanda Falls which drop into a pleasant swimming hole.There are also great rainforest in this
- area containing primitive ferns, giant trees and clear mountain streams. Giant strangler fig trees are
- present here too, one of the best trees to see, the Curtain Fig Tree can be seen here just above
- Atherton at Yungaburra. Yungaburra also contains some interesting historical sites. Also nearby is Lake
- Eacham where you can relax, swim, picnic, canoe or explore the surrounding walking tracks.
