


Take the Murray Upper Road north of Cardwell to the Murray Falls. At the falls is a scenic picnic area, bush walks and rock pools. This State Forest Park is in the foothills of the Kirrama Range.
Within the Bellenden Ker National Park, Josephine Falls is easily accessible by conventional vehicle. From the picnic area the falls are a 10 minute walk through the rainforest.
The Babinda Boulders are reached by turning off the Bruce Highway at Babinda and traveling 10 km west. The spectacular Boulders is a swimming and picnic spot and subject of a local Aboriginal legend.
The Hydro-Electric Power Station at Barron Gorge is 28 km from Cairns. Free guided tours are available (phone 51 2213). Picnic and parking facilities and toilet amenities are situated in a landscaped area of lawns, gardens and shade trees.
About 23 km from the city via Redlynch in the foothills of the ranges, Crystal Cascades can be reached after a pleasant walk of about 2 km from where cars are parked. A popular swimming spot with picnic facilities.
One of the prettiest rail trips in the world, the train goes north from Cairns through Freshwater and Redlynch before starting the climb up to the Barron Gorge to pass picturesque Stoney Creek Falls.
No trip to Kuranda is complete without inspecting the Barron Falls. The falls can be viewed from the Falls Lookout at the end of the Barron Falls Road.
The falls feature good picnic facilis, bush walks and a popular swimming pool. Nearby Bromfield Crater is a large swampy volcanic crater frequented by a large variety of birdlife which attracts many bird watchers.
A small town surrounded by dairy farms, Millaa Millaa also is known for the many delightful waterfalls, cool streams, rock pools and bush pools in the district - many of which are located beautiful rainforest. To get to the circuit of waterfalls turn off the Palmerston Highway 2 km east of Millaa Millaa. The circuit takes in the Millaa Millaa, Zille and Elinjaa Falls

The falls situated about 6 km from Ravenshoe, are believed to be the widest in Australia. Millstream Falls are a popular swimming and picnic area. Little Millstream - or the Seven Sisters - lie about 2 km to the south. Millstream Falls National Park is situated in an open eucalypt forest with bottle brushes along the river.
Abot 24 km from Ravenshoe along rainforest roads you will come to the Tully River Gorge and lookout. The gorge is a spectacular sight even when not in flood. It is on the road to Koombooloomba Dam which passes through National Park rainforest.
